Neurofeedback Blueprint Course

Course Description:

This course focuses on the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) blueprint material. These content areas are essential for understanding and practicing neurofeedback in a competent and ethical manner. This five-day course will help the budding neurofeedback practitioner gain knowledge about the history of neurofeedback, the equipment used, basic neuroanatomy and functional neuroanatomy, and will cover how to develop treatment protocols, conduct neurofeedback with patients, and apply relevant ethical standards that are essential to neurofeedback practice. There will be a didactic portion, as well as a hands on component where you will learn how to use the equipment efficiently. This course fulfills the 36-hour didactic requirement for BCIA certification and will provide you with 36 hours of American Psychological Association (APA) continuing education credits (CEs).

Course Objectives:

  1. Explain the basic terms and concepts used in neurofeedback.

  2. Assess patient presentation using quantitative electroencephalograph (QEEG) applications.

  3. Create and implement appropriate neurofeedback protocols.

  4. Identify applicable APA and BCIA ethical standards that are relevant to the practice of neurofeedback.

  5. Demonstrate effective use of neurofeedback.

Course Agenda:

Day One: Instrumentation and Electronics & Patient Assessment

Day Two: Developing Treatment Protocols

Day Three: Treatment Implementation

Day Four: History of Neurofeedback & Basic Neurophysiology and Neuroanatomy

Day Five: Ethical and Professional Conduct, Research Evidence Base for Neurofeedback, Psychopharmacological Considerations, and Current Trends in Neurofeedback

Instructor Bio:

Dr. Erin Conway is a Licensed Clinical Forensic Neuropsychologist who graduated from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology where she trained with an emphasis in forensic and neuropsychology. She is Board Certified in neurofeedback and biofeedback, certified in Animal-Assisted Therapy, and a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She is an adjunct professor in the online forensic Master’s program at The Chicago School, and is working towards a Master of Science in Clinical Psychopharmacology with the hopes of becoming a prescribing psychologist in the state of Illinois. She conducted a webinar for BCIA on the topic of using neurofeedback with children and teenagers who present with ADHD and Oppositional Defiance Disorder and currently has her own private practice just north of Chicago.

Note: There is no commercial support being provided to the presenter for any portion of this program. There are not products being marketed or sold as part of this course, and there are not conflicts of interest.

Course Fee and Refund Policy:

Course tuition is $1,100 per person without APA CEs and $1,150 with APA CEs. Refunds will be given up to 10 days prior to the start of the course.

Continuing Education:

This course is eligible for 36-hours of Continuing Education. The fee for 36 CE credits is $50. In order to earn a CE certificate, participants MUST do the following:

  1. Attend the 5-day course in its entirety. This includes the face-to-face workshop as well as the live online didactic sessions.

  2. Complete an Evaluation Form and Learning Assessment. Both of these documents will be provided at the conclusion of the course.

  3. Participants who only attend certain portions of the course or who do not complete the required documents will not earn a CE certificate.
