Hi, I'm Matti!

I am a diagnostic extern from Adler University where I am currently working on my doctorate in clinical psychology. I have a love for learning and am focusing my clinical and academic work in neuropsychology, positive psychology, and cross-cultural communication. I am deeply committed to the integration of diversity, equity, and inclusion into the psychological sciences and seek out opportunities to create spaces where everyone feels welcomed and affirmed.

I have worked previously with nueroatypical individuals with developmental delays and brain injuries, as well as with veterans, and people experiencing food insecurity. I devote a significant amount of time to volunteering each year with EndHunger to organize meal packaging and distribution events in rural communities. Over the last year I have spent time working with the Career Transitions Center of Chicago helping to empower midcareer professionals to find meaningful employment in the greater Chicago area and was able to help them raise 15% of their annual budget through an event I co-organized.

I have a pension for scary movies, architecture, and ancient and impressionistic art, all of which I had the opportunity to study while completing my undergraduate degree in Psychological Sciences from Gustavus Adolphus College, in St. Peter, MN and Universidad Veritas in San Jose, Costa Rica. I love spending time outdoors hunting for wildflowers, climbing waterfalls, and taking pictures. I am currently a proud plant mom to 20 different house plants and yes -- all of them have names!
