Julie Davis, Counselor Extraordinaire

Julie Davis

Hello! I’m Julie. I’m a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology PsyD program at Midwestern University and I’m currently completing advanced clinical training under licensed supervision.

I’m passionate about helping people navigate life’s complexity with compassion, clarity, and curiosity. I believe the healing journey feels unique to each person, and that therapy should honor your individuality, your story, and the goals that matter most to you.

Before entering doctoral training, I earned my Master of Arts in Psychology from Pepperdine University, where I focused on evidence-based practice and contributed to research on treatment outcomes regarding depression. My academic foundation, combined with years of direct-care experience, informs a clinical approach that is open, warm, non-judgmental, curious, and adaptive to each client’s individual needs.

My therapeutic approach is collaborative, integrative, and relational. I draw from a wide range of evidence-based models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems Theory, and Ecotherapy, for those who find healing through connection to the natural world.

I bring to therapy a background in diagnostic assessment, clinical education, and front-line mental health care, having worked in community settings, inpatient units, and outpatient programs with a diverse range of individuals.

Therapy with me is a process of collaboratively working to build insight, developing useful tools, and I bring empathy, flexibility, and collaborative curiosity to my work. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, relational struggles, identity concerns, or simply seeking greater self-understanding, I strive to offer a space that is nonjudgmental, curious, and deeply human.

Outside of the therapy room, you’ll find me outdoors with my three miniature Australian shepherds, gardening with my husband, or buried in a good book. I look forward to meeting you and walking alongside you in your journey!
