Mya Williams, LPC

I have found great joy in serving under the umbrella of Behavioral Health. I began my professional journey as a mental health counselor at Allendale Associates in 2013. I was passionate about my discipline, but I quickly realized the need to explore the correlation between behavior, trauma, and family in order to become more effective in my service and purpose.

Additionally, the nexus of disciplines inherent in this helping profession, fuels my unequivocal appreciation for the dynamics of the home life and its impact on the youth; hence, I became a Certified Parent Educator and Licensed Professional Counselor.

Iā€™m not a stranger to the mental health profession. An extended part of my tenure has been spent serving youths, adolescents, and families. My history encompasses supporting individuals who are navigating depression, anxiety, self-injuries, learning disabilities, and sensory processing disorders. I am skilled in working with peers and family relations, social and emotional, Individualized Education Plans, diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other behavioral concerns.

I understand that we have the ability to navigate barriers in our lives in order to attain our intended goals. By practicing from a Client Center Therapy modality in my sessions and using great tools from CBT, and DBT, clients are transported to their proposed goal. I am fluent in Sensory Process Disorder Assessment, ASQ-SE, ACE, Mindfulness, Behavioral Therapy, and Social-Emotional Observations. Play Therapy Strategies are also appropriately incorporated.

I understand that there could be the fear of the unknown. As a therapist I am always cognizant of the dynamics related to the ecological structure that cradles my clients, and my advocacy will be tempered by those concerns and guided by empathy. Additionally, I embrace the opportunities to be supportive, to provide education, and to collectively generate helpful ideas that target my clients expressed needs.

My overall goal is to perceive, understand and respond to the needs of my clients to help them begin to feel better.

In my free time, I like to watch lifetime movies, read, meditate and spend time with my beautiful family. Last, but definitely not least, I enjoy traveling and exploring different cultures.
